Missing the Z

Back from Greenberg’s Train Show this weekend. Not a single piece of z-scale anywhere I could find at the show. Frustrating when you want to get something, but there was nothing available at all.

Marklin has posted their new items for 2011. They have finally released a DRG version of the 0-10-0 class 94 locomotive, which has been in their catalog for several years now, and released in just about everything but DRG livery. It’s model 88942. I’ve always known it would be a matter of time before the DRG version appeared.

Looks like the Marklin Museum car for 2011 has been announced. I hope these will be available more quickly than last years car (though it was worth the wait). A nice tin and it includes a small forklift. The car is, as customary, in commemoration of a local Göppingen business, the Baeder family leather goods business.

It’s been nearly six months since the 2010 Museum cars were announced, but this z-scale car has finally made its way to the States. An unusual shade of blue that’s hard to capture correctly in a photo, it looks great in person. Interestingly, I was surprised to discover that my silverware is made  by WMF, so this car is right at home here.
